I found it dull and contrived. Which I think means Adam thinks I'm homophobic. I'm cool with that.

    This,

I also mentioned my opinion in What are you thinking :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I think it was a really bad move on his part, especially if people wanted to look up to him as a LGBT Role Model? Like =/ That whole performance did not help extinguish the whole "promiscuity stereotype" that is spoken about often.

Well at least 2 people according to that other thread :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: xD But still, even straight people are looking at this and are like, hmmm so thats how gay people are like. I dunno, I just think it was distasteful, especially the crotch-faceshove thing xD

I don't care about "role model". I'd like to think he doesn't need to be a role model for anything to anybody. I don't even mind that he did a "designed-to-shock" move. It's that it wasn't even entertaining as THAT. I mean, we expect Lady Gaga to do some weird stuff, but when she does it, it's entertaining. Her AMA performance was only so-so, but it was still light-years ahead of Adam's. Adam reminded me more of a three-year-old who keeps yelling "fart" trying to get Mommy to pay attention. Grinding someone into your crotch - how subversive. Oo, and running up to kiss your keyboardist ("He's straight - tee hee!") - how spontaneous.

And apparently he considers those who didn't like the performance to be homophobic. Sorry, sir. The struggle for gay rights over the past century wasn't so gay performers could use their sexuality to deflect criticism of a lackluster performance. We didn't dislike it because you're gay. We disliked it because it was lame.

Exactly! I think he could do so much better. I don't know what this was all about. I think this could count as one of his worst performances.

Alright, I worded what I meant wrong, I know he doesn't have to be a role model for anybody and I understand why he shouldn't give a fuck, but yeah, especially what Lex is saying at the end, he's kind of making it like he's speaking for the LGBT community, by adding the whole "if you don't like it, you're homophobic" thing. Ya know?

i agree... but when you said fart i did laugh lol...im a 3 year old in a 21 year olds body....so glad i didnt type that other way around id so bea arrested by now...

and even he surelly has to realise his performance was crap you cant say your homophobic cos you didnt liek it thats stupid and really offensive and i find that worse for lgbt people than the face crotch hugger thing move..:S .. as its saying you dont liek us will go all equality and aggressive when its jsut a professional comment ( and correct)

i didnt see gaga's performance but they cant all be stunning some have to be ok to make the stuning ones look stunning lol...

and i also agree that sexuality shouldnt be used as a prop almost in whatever you do... unless porn then its a major prop... but in music ok im used to seeing 3/4 naked woman dancing about on stage or vids but i dont see men shoving womens heads in tehir crotch or kissing then saying hehe shes straight or whatever its jsut so :S

the music has to come before gimmicks...

or maybe im jsut out of touch with the modern generations taste...its like rock music its jsut aint today i see adverts for cd's and they say rock and its stuff like muse or summat or green day and im liek oh god nooo thats so indie it hurts.

    ----------

yea i get ya joey

ill jsu tsay it...the guys a douche ...(prepares for attacking)

Ok, first off, Adam has already stated many times he is an entertainer before everything else. He has also stated many times hes not an activist or a role model, if people look up to him thats fine, but he is so more much than just a gay man. I really and truly adore this guy for so many of his amazing quotes. He has a really good head on his shoulders and knows what hes doing, i really and truly believe that.

Secondly, i think its good that Adam is allowed to sex it up. So many female artists can go up on stage, act like sluts and hoes, kiss other women, and its just another performance. This to me really didnt seem "new" or "fresh" because it had so much gaga, madonna, ect. in it. I like that though. Hes the male version of a grab-bag of the greats IMHO.

Thirdly, i dont care who sees this performance and thinks less of me as a gay person because of it :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Ive had it with people who brand me upon the acts of other gay people and ive had it with people who brand me as just "gay" and nothing else. Anyone who thinks i must act JUST like Adam Lambert has a screw or five loose and can bite me for all i care (<3)

    >>>He has a really good head on his shoulders and knows what hes doing, i really and truly believe that.

The backlash he's been getting on his last few moves belies this.

    >>>Secondly, i think its good that Adam is allowed to sex it up.

Nothing wrong with sexy. Nothing wrong with slutty, even. I've seen plenty of performers act sexy and/or slutty, and enjoyed them. But as I said, Adam's wasn't even enjoyable on that level. When I watched the performance, I didn't see a guy who was enjoying being a sexual being. I saw a guy who always had at least one eye on the camera, as if to say "Are you getting all this? Are you seeing what I'm doing?" When he ran up to kiss his keyboard player, that wasn't a moment of passion, or getting lost in the performance. It was a guy betting it'd get him X number of youtube hits.

  20. The AMA performance sucked (the singing seemed really off), but I'm a fan of the song, his new album, and the guy in general. I don't think of him as a "role model," per se, as I don't relate to a lot of the things he does, but he's a fearless entertainer who takes risks, and I hugely respect that. I think it's easy to look up to him because he doesn't care what people think of him, and for many closeted people fearing their own scrutiny, that's an admirable trait to have.
