    The stupidity and simple-mindedness of binaries such as good or bad, black or white, male or female, is or isn't...

    You cannot know what is good without knowing what is bad; nothing is ever completely black or completely white; gender...an abstraction, you cannot perceive what is, without at the same time perceiving what isn't...

    Thinking in binaries is a great danger, mostly because we run the risk of inflating our egos by thinking that we are the absolute good guys, and that those who oppose us are irredeemable demonic entities deserving of annihilation...just look at the 20th century...just look at now...

    Zen practice exhorts us to free ourselves of opposites...

    I've been flicking back and forth in this post for days because I simply couldn't think of anything to say. It's incredibly difficult to pick just one thing to eliminate, because there are simply so many things wrong with this world that getting rid of one would simply not cut it. But if I had to pick one, I'd choose innocent suffering. That should have no place in this world and yet it's everywhere. It's not fair, and it's not right.

    I only want to get rid of things according to natural laws. Anything more than that is just a genie wish waiting to be corrupted.
    Take suffering for instance, what if I just removed the feeling of suffering, thereby effectively removing suffering itself?
