I saw this poll yesterday and I remembered that the news said that a survey revealed that people prefer the English accent most.

Here is what the news has to say on the subject.

New survey declares British sexiest accent in the world - Health - TODAY.com

I just wanted to wait and see if this EC poll would come to the same conclusion.

Amazingly this EC poll did come to the same conclusion.

At 5:25 am PST the English accent got 40% of the votes with 8 votes total. Yay.

Top is probably British but my favorite American is the accent in the part of the country people here define as the mid south it's not a full southern accent but it's got a bit of the southern twang on some words

The problem with saying the "British accent" is sexy (and the U.S.) is that there are so many different accents in different regions. Personally I don't think the Scouse, brummie or Geordie accents are very sexy. Received pronounciation English is usually the accent that people think is "sexy".

I really like the Irish accent. The Spanish (Spain) accent is a close second.

My taste in accents has been considered unusual at least from people I've known. I've heard others say they find certain accents annoying but those are actually amongst my favourites, like Southern (USA), Welsh, or South African, although I do like other accents as well. The Southern accent probably holds the top spot, Welsh I think I developed a liking for due to a couple of my favourite bands growing up. The South African I think might be due to it having a slight resemblance in sound to the Australian accent which I also like.

I picked Australian basically because of Claudia Black alone. French is a weird accent for me; I find it very attractive on women, but extremely creepy on men.

There are many many countries in Asia, and they all have different accents.

Anyways, I love it when Japanese people speak English, it's adorable. Also Germans too.

I think an Australian or South African accent on a guy is extremely sexy. I also like the Irish/Scottish accent. I think an English/British accent on a woman is sexy.

There are a dozen different English accents and all of them are very different! Unless you're all talking about that generic posh English accent that really very few people in England actually use.

Same for Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Check out the brummie, scouse and West Country accents and see if you still think the all encompassing English accent is so great

I think my favourite accent of all time is the Glasweigan accent, closely followed by the Swansea accent. Outside of the UK, I quite like that Brooklyn (?) accent that Michael Rappaport speaks with? I think it's Brooklyn anyway, somewhere in New York :icon_redf

There is just something that tends to be really...captivating about (a guy with) a French accent that makes me tune out everything else.

There was this one episode of CK where I was mostly rooting for the one guy to win just because he both looked good and had a French accent. I think I even downloaded that specific episode for the same reason.

(I like most of the ones listed to a varying degree though)

I hate a lot of French accents, Daniel Elena (Sebastien Loeb's co-driver) has the worst accent ever, it just annoys me sooo much!

 I'm so with you on this one. I adore France, think French is the most beautiful language in the whole world but I HATE the sound of French people speaking English! Lol it makes me cringe so bad.
